Antonio Maceo International Airport - SCU
The Antonio Maceo Airport is a medium-size international airport located 7 km (4 miles) southwest from Santiago de Cuba, the second largest city in the country and the capital of the south-eastern province of Santiago de Cuba.
It serves the city of Santiago de Cuba and surrounding areas. This airport is also the gateway for tourists heading to the all-inclusive resorts located along the coast (from Chivirico to Baconao), especially during the high season (December to April).
The airport is named in memory of Lt. General José Antonio de la Caridad Maceo y Grajales (1845-1896) who was second-in-command of the Cuban Army of Independence.
The "Aeropuerto Internacional Antonio Maceo" handles both domestic flights (~ 80% of traffic) and international flights (~20% of traffic). It has 1 Passenger Terminal, 1 Cargo Terminal and 12 Aircraft Stands. There are no jetbridges, so mobile staircases are used for embarking and disembarking passengers onto the tarmac.
The terminal building is air-conditioned and non-smoking except, in one designated area. For more information about this airport, facilities, formalities, ground transportation, arrivals/departures, photos, etc., please click the links in the left menu.
