Ground Transportation - SCU
Here are the ground transportation options available at the SANTIAGO DE CUBA Antonio Maceo International Airport (SCU) in Cuba:
Chartered Shuttle bus:
Most tourists arriving in Santiago de Cuba by air already have the transfers pre-arranged by a tour operator and included in their vacation package. If it's your case, then when you exit the terminal you will be greeted by your Tour Operator representative who will show you which shuttle bus to board for the transfer to your hotel.
Taxi:
Taxis are always available in front of the terminal building. A taxi ride from the airport to downtown Santiago takes about 15 minutes and costs approximately 10 USD one-way (equivalent to $10 USD). Always agree the fare first, some taxis have meters but they are rarely switched on.
Public Buses:
There’s no public bus station at the airport but there's a VIAZUL bus station and an ASTRO bus station in downtown Santiago (both on Avenida de los Libertadores) which is only a short taxi ride from the airport.
Car Rental:
The car rental desks are located in the Arrivals hall and outside parking: Cubacar, Rex, Havanautos, and Via Transgaviota.
Booking in advance is recommended, especially during the high season when the demand for rental cars often exceeds the supply. Prices vary from approximately 50 to 125 USD per day depending on car category and time of year. Insurance is mandatory and usually costs 15 USD per day.
Parking:
Short-term parking (56 spaces) and long-term parking (50 spaces) are available.
